In metal foundries, approx. 10 litres of very fine soot are distributed into the mould by shovel so that the extremely preheated mould does not cool down too quickly. The liquid metal is then poured in and the soot floats to the surface. In the past, the soot, which has to be removed before filling into the final mould, was blown into a very large into a very large suction unit.
